DAY 1: Zagreb – Podgarić – Vukovar – Ilok
Pick up at agreed location. Driving trough the beautiful country side to our first stop – Podgarić with the Monument to the Revolution – a World War II memorial sculpture dedicated to the people of Moslavina. The trip continues all the way to Vukovar – Croatian city of heroes. The main topic here will be the Croatian Homeland war from 1991 but also life today – city tour is planned including a visit of the city center, Vukovar war hospital and museum, famous Water Tower and much more. Free time for lunch. Our tour continues to the city of Ilok – the most eastern Croatian city with one more stop on the way – Ovčara Memorial Centre (location of the Serbian transit camp for Croatian prisoners and Ovčara massacre). Dinner and overnight at Ilok.
DAY 2: Ilok – Kopački rit – Osijek – Jasenovac – Zagreb
Breakfast. First thing on the schedule is The Old Wine Cellar tour. It was built in 1450 and the first originally purpose built wine cellar in this part of Europe. This would include wine tasting as well. After that our trip continues to Park of Nature Kopački rit with the beautiful intact nature, and a visit to the city of Osijek. Free time for lunch. On our way back to Zagreb, we have one more stop – The site of the largest and most notorious of the Nazi concentration camps set up in Croatia during WWII – Jasenovac. Drive to Zagreb.
